Russell's viper snakes rescued in Odisha

Barpada (Odisha) [India], Nov 11 (ANI): Two Russell's viper snakes were rescued on Saturday afternoon from the circle jail campus of Baripada under Mayurbhanj district, Odisha.
According to the jail police personnel, the two snakes (one male and one female) were spotted on a bush inside the jail campus and both were about 4.5 feet in height and weighed between three to four kilograms.
Considering the lives of the prisoners, the jail authority immediately decided to inform the snake rescuer.
Krushna Chandra Gochhayat, a snake rescuer, was dispatched to the location to carry out the rescue operation.
On reaching the spot, Krushna spotted the two snakes on a bush inside the jail campus. He then carefully moved the snakes to a safe place.
Speaking to ANI, Ashutosh Mishra, snake rescuer member, informed that the two Russell viper snakes were rescued from the campus of the circle jail of Baripada and that they are currently under observation.
"The snakes are currently under observation and once deemed fit, they will be released back to its natural habitat," he added.
The Russell Viper, commonly known as ''Chandraboda'', is an extremely-venomous species in the world and the major reason for the death of humans. (ANI)
