Pak High Commissioner visits Sirhindi's shrine, offers 'chaddar'

Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood lays the 'chadar'

Sirhind (Punjab) [India], Nov 11 (ANI): Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood visited the Shrine of Sheikh Faruqi Sirhindi here on Sunday and offered a traditional 'chaddar' (ceremonious cloth) on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan.
The chaddar was laid by the Pakistani High Commissioner along with Zaireen (pilgrims) from the neighbouring country.
The High Commissioner was received by Sajjada Nasheen Khalifa Syed Mohammed Sadiq Raza, other trustees, and members of the local administration.
The Pakistani diplomat held an interactive session with the pilgrims after laying the chaddar and offering a special "dua" as well.
The High Commissioner also highlighted the role of visits to religious shrines (under the 1974 Protocol) in the context of people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and India.
Around 144 Pakistani Zaireen are visiting the Indian city of Sirhind this year to pay obeisance at the shrine and in connection with the annual Urs celebrations. (ANI)
