Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahender Singh had sustained splinter and bullet injuries on his neck. A native of Dumariya village of Bharatpur district in Rajasthan, Singh belonged to 35th Batallion of the BSF.
A set of six IEDs were planted in a series and were set off in one go between village Gome and Gattakal in Koyalibeda.
The IED blast comes a day ahead of the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. As many as 18 constituencies in eight Maoist-affected districts -- Bastar, Kanker, Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur, Kondagaon and Rajnandgaon will go to polls tomorrow. The polling for remaining 72 seats will take place on November 20 and the counting of votes will take place on December 11.
