New Delhi [India] Sep 6 (ANI): Terming it as a "historical judgment", the fashion industry lauded the Supreme Court's verdict that decriminalised Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
They took to social media to express their support and happiness over the apex court's decision
Giving the verdict a thumbs up, ace designer Rohit Bal wrote how the judgment heralds a new dawn for personal liberty and is a major victory for the LGBTQ community that has been fighting this battle for freedom.

Manish Malhotra wrote, "Love Conquers All #section377 #love #equality #pride #india"

Tarun Tahiliani took to his Instagram story to share a picture in support, lauding the 'monumental' decision.

"Section 377 is irrational, arbitrary, and incomprehensible as it fetters the right to equality for LGBT community. Social morality cannot violate the rights of even one single individual. The right to privacy as part of right to life applies fully to LGBT community," posted Masaba Gupta.

Designer Rohit K. Verma shared a picture in which he can be seen posing in front of the LGBTI pride flag, writing,"Keeping my flag high."

A five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices D Y Chandrachud, Rohinton Fali Nariman, A M Khanwilkar and Indu Malhotra, issued the verdict on a bunch of petitions filed to scrap the law.
Known as Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the 157-year-old law criminalised certain sexual acts, terming them as 'unnatural offenses', punishable by a 10-year jail term. (ANI)
